The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) has become aware of fictitious vacancy announcements and solicitations being circulated online, text message/SMS, WhatsApp and Telegram, phone calls, and postal mail/fax. These fraudulent communications aim to induce individuals to apply for positions or opportunities and subsequently request payment for services related to recruitment, training, funding or certification.

UNCDF takes these matters seriously and wishes to alert the public so that individuals can protect themselves against these scams.

What to watch for

You are urged to exercise caution and remain vigilant when responding to online advertisements, emails, or social media posts claiming to offer:

  • Training programmes or certifications
  • Grants or scholarships
  • Recruitment or employment opportunities
  • Business support programmes
  • Other benefits offered in the name of UNCDF, its partners, and/or its officials.

  • Victims of scams may also wish to report them to local law enforcement authorities for appropriate action.
