The United Nations Board of Auditors recognized UNCDF’s strong financial reporting, full implementation of previous audit recommendations, and continued progress in strengthening institutional performance.

The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) has received an unqualified audit opinion on its financial statements for the fiscal year 2025, confirming that they fairly present, in all material respects, the organization’s financial position and performance in accordance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).

The United Nations Board of Auditors did not identify any material deficiencies affecting UNCDF’s financial statements.

The result continues UNCDF’s long-standing record of sound financial reporting. Since the organization began issuing separate financial statements in 2012, it has received an unqualified audit opinion every year.

The Board also acknowledged UNCDF’s significant progress in addressing outstanding recommendations from previous audits, with the organization achieving a 100 per cent implementation rate.

The report recognized positive developments in several areas, including project management, internal controls, accountability and UNCDF’s transition towards its new investment-focused strategy. It also noted the results being achieved across UNCDF programmes.

As part of its review, the Board identified opportunities for further improvement, including streamlining investment processes, strengthening the use of evaluation findings, enhancing pipeline management and refining the classification of certain financial transactions.

UNCDF welcomes these recommendations as valuable guidance for continuing to strengthen its operations, institutional systems and delivery.

The audit results reflect the professionalism, collaboration and sustained commitment of colleagues across UNCDF to maintaining high standards of accountability and advancing the organization’s mandate.
