Donor Governments

As a voluntarily-funded UN agency, UNCDF relies on grants from donor governments for the bulk of its financing. This includes core (un-earmarked) financing, as well as non-core financing (earmarked for a particular country or programme, including global and regional programmes).

16 donor countries supported UNCDF in 2016. Donors include OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) donors including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Kuwait, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. Non-DAC donors also contributed to UNCDF including China and Thailand and two least developed countries, Myanmar and Lao PDR also contributed to UNCDF’s core resources.

Additional governments have contributed through Multi-Donor Trust Funds on specific themes (i.e. Livelihoods and Food Security Trust Fund (LIFT), joint programmes, and ONE UN Funds).
