The Local Climate Adaptive Living Facility (LoCAL) is the UNCDF facility for investment in local level climate resilience. Focused on least developed countries, the facility channels global adaptation finance to local governments to help them invest in building community resilience. In the Mekong Region, Cambodia, LoCAL grants helped communities to adopt to climate change and to respond to its increased intensity of flooding.

UNCDF’s facility for investment in local climate resilience (LoCAL) connects to existing national intergovernmental fiscal transfer systems and supplements transfers to local governments with performance-based climate resilience grants, channeling adaptation finance to where it is needed most. Transfers are used for investments for climate-related disaster risk reduction and preparedness.
