The seamstresses making dresses-to-order in the Sengerema Market had to put up with a lot before the drainage system was built. Customers come by with material and ideas for clothes they would like to have made. Sometimes they copy articles of clothing with material requested by the customers. “Especially during the rainy season, filthy water ws everywhere before the drainage system was built,” said seamstress Rosie Magnaga, left. “And the smell was horrible,” added Aksa. Rosie: “The smell is still not great, but the council does its best to try and keep it clean. Anyway, it is much better than before – especially business. More customers are willing to come to our stall now.”
