The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is supporting MicroLead, a UNCDF US$ 58.6 million global facility to promote access to financial services, particularly savings, with a special focus on Africa and post-crisis countries.

Together with Citi, Ford Foundation, MasterCard, Omidyar Network, UNCDF, USAID and Visa Inc., the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is also supporting Better Than Cash Alliance, a US$ 38 million global alliance of governments, private sector and development organizations committed to accelerating the shift from cash to electronic payments.

Finally, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is supporting UNCDF's Mobile Money for the Poor (MM4P) programme, a five-year initiative which aims to promote and improve the use of electronic banking platforms, particularly mobile phones, to provide financial services to low-income households. 

The MasterCard Foundation is supporting MicroLead, a UNCDF US$ 58.6 million global facility to promote access to financial services, particularly savings, with a special focus on Africa and post-crisis countries and Youthstart, a programme to increase access to financial services for 200,000 low-income youth in Sub-Saharan Africa.
