Charles is a Programme Development Advisor in the Front Office.
Charles is a global development finance professional with extensive experience designing and deploying catalytic, blended finance investment instruments spanning multiple partners and geographies. He brings a network of strategic relationships with DFIs, MDBs and impact investors globally and a track record of executing market leading SDG-positive transactions in a variety of sectors.
Charles joined UNCDF in 2022 to be a part of building up the capabilities of a dedicated investment organization within the UN. He manages a number of strategic global investment and blended finance partnerships with other UN agencies including UNICEF, WFP, UNDP and UNFPA as well as philanthropic partners including Children’s Investment Fund Foundation and the Bayer Foundation.
Prior to UNCDF, Charles worked as Head of Origination at SunFunder (now Mirova), a specialized private impact investing firm deploying debt finance to clean energy and mobility companies in frontier markets. His career also includes the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) in Helsinki where he led close to $100 million in new operations combining debt, equity, blended finance funds, grants and guarantees, as well as a Senior Investment Officer role with the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Tunis.
Charles holds an MBA from Oxford University Saïd Business School, MA in International Relations and Finance from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and BA from Stanford University in Anthropology and Political Science.
He is an American citizen and has enjoyed living and working in cities including New York, Helsinki, Nairobi and Tunis. He is married with three children and loves hiking, sailing and the great outdoors. He is a native English speaker and proficient in French.
