Abdalmughni Nofal, Regional Coordinator, Southern and Eastern Africa
Abdalmughni (Abed) joined UNCDF after 30 years of working experience focused on Democratic Governance, Good Governance and Municipal Development, with wide knowledge in designing Municipal Finance programmes and developing related capacity development packages. He experienced working for national and international agencies in Palestine, North Africa and the Middle East regions. Since 1997, throughout his international career he worked for UNDP, UN-HABITAT, Mercy Corps, and CHF.
Abed has worked for and taken part in national organization, local governments (Municipalities) and semi-government organization at senior management level since 1982, for instance, since 2009 as the Director General of Municipal Development and Lending Fund, Abed experienced an extensive and successful track that focused on resource mobilization in the West Bank and Gaza. Throughout 30 years of working experience his main professional focus areas have been within the field of Local Governance Reform and Municipal Finance.
Abed is a Palestinian national married with two growing sons and independent other two: one daughter and one son. He holds a postgraduate degree in Urban Development from University of Strathclyde Glasgow (UK) and Bachelor Degree in City and Regional Planning from Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey.
