Henri Dommel joined UNCDF as Director of the Inclusive Finance Practice Area in 2007. He is responsible for leading the practice's strategy in digital finance and the promotion of inclusive digital economies. 
 UNCDF is active in more than 25 countries across Africa, Asia and the Pacific, building through a market development approach, strong digital finance eco-systems that contribute to the emergence of digital economies, and has partnered with more than 150 private sector actors in that regard.
 Prior to joining UNCDF as Director, Mr Dommel spent 6 years (2001-2007) at IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development) as its Senior Technical Advisor, Rural Finance. Prior to IFAD, Mr Dommel had worked as Programme Manager at UNCDF from 1993 to 2001, managing a range of UNCDF programs in Africa, Asia and Latin America. 
 Before entering the UN system altogether, Henri Dommel worked at Banque Paribas in New Delhi as well as in Paris at the bank's Department for Africa and the Middle East. 
 Mr Dommel holds a masters degree in International Affairs from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, and a degree from the "Institut d'Études Politiques" of Paris, France (also referred to as « Sciences Po »).
