In Zambia, fintechs develop and deliver solutions across many sectors to help Zambians access products and services that improve their lives or provide their income.

In January 2020, five fintechs enrolled in the FinTech4U Accelerator Programme to improve their service or product delivered through digital financial services.

By partnering together, UNCDF and BongoHive provided extensive technical assistance in areas such as product development, partnerships formulation and facilitated regulator workshops with Bank of Zambia (BOZ), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Zambia Information Communication and Technology Authority (ZICTA) to assist the fintechs better manage regulatory requirements.

In this video, the fintechs speak of their experiences in the Accelerator Programme and the benefits that this programme had on their business and on their team working to launch or scale digital services.

UNCDF is also pleased with the success of the programme and looks forward to seeing the products scale across the country to reach more people, enabling them to be more economically active.

The FinTech4U Accelerator programme is welcoming a new cohort of start-ups in September 2020.
