Over the past few years, the gig economy has skyrocketed due to the surge of digital platforms that allow the exchanges of goods, services, and the sharing of assets, which is creating on-demand or temporary work arrangements for the so-called “gig” or independent workers with jobs ranging from food delivery to ride-sharing.

In conjunction with APEC 2020, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), UNCDF held the Gig Economy Challenge to find solutions that will help the Financial Health of gig workers and improve the gig economy.

Congratulations to PAY: WATCH, Versa and Hyred! These three teams will work with UNCDF, together with the support of the i3 Program to get their solutions market- ready and to improve the financial health of gig workers.
