Whilst many countries in the Pacific region have, so far, had few cases of COVID-19 the global pandemic has caused rapid economic and societal changes across the region. UNCDF through the Pacific Financial Inclusion Programme (PFIP) have applied their expertise to help governments, companies and citizens to negotiate these changes. Providing technical assistance to industries forced to undergo rapid digitalization, advocating for measures to mitigate the economic impact of the pandemic on the most vulnerable, and leveraging experience in creating digital platforms are some of the immediate ways that UNCDF is helping during this crisis.
