Summary

The inclusive digital economy scorecard (IDES) is a policy tool developed by UNCDF to help governments set the priorities for their countries’ digital transformation. It identifies the key market constraints hindering the development of an inclusive digital economy and helps to set the right priorities with public and private stakeholders, to foster a digital economy that leaves no one behind.

The IDES score for Solomon Islands shows there is significant scope to expand new digital services through infrastructure development, upskilling human resources and improving the regulatory environment. These are considered foundational traits of a robust digital economy and will enable greater access to financial and telecommunication services for Solomon Islanders.

Solomon Islands was one of four countries to embrace IDES in 2020, alongside Burkina Faso, Nepal and Uganda.
