Stefano Barazzetta is a consultant Risk Officer at the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF).
Stefano is a climate finance, impact investment, and a Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) professional with more than 15 years of experience across Africa, Asia, and Europe. Earlier in his career, he worked in M&A advisory and private equity, conducting strategic, financial, and technological due diligence on renewable energy and environmental assets. He later transitioned into impact investing, serving as Investment Manager at Opes Impact Fund leading transactions in East Africa, and as Senior Consultant with a|impact, where he contributed to structuring Italy’s first social impact fund. He has also supported UNDP and ADB through advisory roles focused on climate finance, blended finance, and sectoral policy development in Madagascar, Cambodia, and Kyrgyzstan.
In his current role as consultant with UNCDF, Stefano supports the risk appraisal of investment opportunities considered by the organization, contributing to investment risk assessment, due diligence and quality assurance across climate, clean energy, and inclusive finance portfolios in Africa and Asia.
An Italian national, he holds an MBA (cum laude) from MIP–Politecnico di Milano and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering. He is based in Milan, Italy.
