Innovation challenges

Why create innovation challenges?

Digital platforms are forcing us to reimagine how people communicate, consume, and create. They also present incredible potential to address very real societal problems and improve the lives of vulnerable people.

In particular, digital tools can enable financial services to scale innovative solutions for problems in agriculture, health, education, information access, and energy.

Including people in the financial system is about much more than having a bank account. It is a key element of social and economic inclusion. It is about helping people participate in today's connected economy.

Who can take part in our innovation challenges?

Our innovation challenges support individuals and companies in tackling some of the most urgent obstacles to financial inclusion. We issue problem statements for challenges throughout Asia, Africa, and the Pacific.

Applicants with a solution for addressing one of our problem statements are invited to apply. Accepted applicants will enjoy financial and technical support to maximize their solution's impact.

We have different challenges suitable for ideas in various stages of development and from many countries. Read more to find a challenge to join!
