Mathieu Soglonou, Regional Coordinator, Western and Central Africa
Mathieu Soglonou holds a Diploma of Higher Education specialized in Project Management and Local Development, a Master's in Organizational Management and a Diploma in Business Management (Option Banque) from the University of Abomey-Calavi, Benin.
Mathieu has more than 15 years of experience in managing development projects cycles and a inclusive finance. Mathieu joined UNCDF in June 2008 as Chief Technical Advisor for the Central African Republic before joining the Regional Office where he assumed the duties of Technical Advisor in Inclusive Finance. In this capacity, Mathieu has accompanied several governments and central banks in the development of pro-poor strategies and policies (microfinance, inclusive finance, digital finance, agribusiness, resilience and empowerment of women, renewable energy, independent employment and entrepreneurship for young people and women).
Prior to UNCDF, Mathieu was Director of the Access to Financial Services project of the Millennium Challenge Account and then Director of the ALAFIA Consortium in Benin. Mathieu has also been a consultant for the World Bank, UNCTAD, UNDSEA, IFAD, GTZ, among others. He has also working experience in working in fragile countries or in transition.
