Vera Kirienko is the Head of Operational Effectiveness and Assurance Unit at the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF). She supports coordination and oversight across key operational, assurance, and management functions within UNCDF.
Vera brings more than 20 years of experience in operations, finance, audit, and oversight within UNDP and the banking sector. Prior to joining UNCDF, she served as Audit Coordination Specialist in the UNDP Bureau for Management Services, leading UNDP’s engagement with the United Nations Board of Auditors, coordinating corporate audit processes, and supporting senior management on governance and oversight matters. Over the course of her tenure in UNDP’s Bureau for Management Services, Vera has contributed to major organizational initiatives, including IPSAS implementation, the establishment of GSSC operational processes, and UN development system reform efforts. She has also held roles supporting corporate management, internal controls, and coordination across decentralized operating environments. Prior to joining the UN system, Vera worked in the banking sector in Kyrgyzstan in audit and financial management roles, focused on regulatory compliance, systems modernization, and strengthening internal control frameworks.
A Kyrgyzstan national, Vera holds an MBA from the Academy of Management under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and is an ACCA Affiliate.
