
Charulata Singal is the Transactional Risk Specialist at the United Nations Capital Development Fund. An Indian national, she brings over 16 years of expertise in investment risk management, credit analysis, impact investing, and portfolio oversight in emerging markets. She holds two Master’s degrees in Business Administration, most recently from the NYU Stern School of Business (USA) and the Indian School of Business (India). She speaks English, Hindi, Bengali, and Punjabi.
Joining UNCDF in 2018 as an Investment Specialist, Charulata brings extensive investment and development finance expertise, especially in advancing financial inclusion and sustainable economic growth in emerging markets across private and public sector settings. In her current role, Charulata supports UNCDF’s comprehensive investment risk management by assessing, identifying and mitigating transaction risks in alignment with institutional risk appetite.
Before joining UNCDF, Charulata held positions at British International Investment (formerly CDC Group), responsAbility Investments, BlueOrchard Finance, and Capria Ventures, where she managed a portfolio exceeding $400 million across South and Southeast Asia. She began her career in corporate banking at ING Vysya Bank in India, where she earned a fast-track promotion to become the bank’s Youngest Assistant Vice President, managing more than $6 billion across various real sectors and financial institutions.
