Laura Munoz Perez

Regional Investment Team Lead for West and Central Africa and the Caribbean Region

Laura Munoz Perez is the Regional Investment Team Lead for West and Central Africa and the Caribbean Region at the United Nations Capital Development Fund. She is a Spanish investment professional with a Master’s degree in International Business Administration from the ICEX-CECO Centre of Studies for Economy and Trade in Spain and is fluent in English, French, and Spanish. Laura joined UNCDF in 2022 as Programme Manager and has served as Interim Regional Manager for Inclusive Digital Economies since 2024. She leads efforts to mobilize resources in West and Central Africa and build partnerships to facilitate access to finance for SMEs and smallholder farmers. Before joining UNCDF, Laura held leadership roles in financial sector development in underserved markets. She directed the Digitax programme at the International Centre for Tax and Development, where she advised governments on investment and tax revenue strategies, and served as Head of Payments at Cenfri. She also worked as Business Development Director at Microcred in Senegal, where she doubled the capital channeled to last-mile communities. Laura was also Investment Officer at NODUS, managing the Microfinance Fund for the Spanish Cooperation AECID which had almost 700 M USD assets under management.
