Mounir Ezzeddine is a seasoned Investment Specialist at the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), based in Dakar, Senegal. Working under the Regional Investment Team Lead for West and Central Africa, he advances UNCDF’s investment mandate across the region, structuring and deploying grants, loans, and guarantees to catalyze public and private capital flows toward SDG-aligned investments.
From 2021 to 2024, Ezzeddine served within UNCDF’s Least Developed Countries Investment Platform (LDCIP) in Nairobi, where he played a central role in designing and deploying innovative blended-finance solutions, including the Renewable Energy Fund for Zimbabwe and the solar cold-storage financing facility in Kenya. These initiatives translated UNCDF’s financial instruments into tangible development outcomes by mobilizing private capital for renewable-energy and agri-value-chain investments.
Before joining the UN, Ezzeddine built a distinguished private-sector career in investment management. As Senior Vice President at KAMCO Invest, he managed a $900 million private-equity and direct-investment portfolio, leading 18 successful exits with a weighted average IRR of 45 percent. His portfolio included major funds such as the Kuwait Education Fund ($200 M), KAMCO PE Fund ($100 M), Etqan PE Fund ($50 M), KIA SME & Startups Fund ($150 M), and the KAMCO Yield Fund ($100 M). Earlier, he held senior roles at the International Leasing and Investment Company, managing frontier-market mandates and funds such as Comvest Ijara I and the Equity Leasing Fund, following his start at the Arab Investment and Export Credit Guarantee Corporation, a pan-Arab institution providing guarantees for trade and equity investment.
Ezzeddine holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Newcastle University, an MBA from Sheffield Hallam University, and a BBA from the American Business School in Paris. He is fluent in English, French, and Arabic.
