Ben Midberry is the Regional Investment Specialist for the Pacific at UNCDF, based in Suva, Fiji.
Ben began his career in finance at Deutsche Bank’s Global Social Finance Group, where he served as a Vice President, structuring and managing blended-finance vehicles investing in social enterprises and microfinance institutions across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. He later co-founded and led two social enterprise healthcare organizations in Viet Nam and the United States. Over two decades, he has raised and deployed grant, debt, and equity capital from a wide range of public and private funders to finance ventures spanning healthcare, renewable energy, food systems, financial services, and the blue economy.
Since joining UNCDF in 2021, Ben has led the structuring and execution of investments, guarantees and grants across UNCDF’s thematic areas, with a particular focus on Blue Economy investments through the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR). He works closely with public funders, private investors and UN Agencies to expand access to finance in Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States aligned with national development plans.
An American national, Ben holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
